ATLAS, the “STRONGMEN of SOUL” celebrates 25 years.
“The high-powered, horn-driven band ATLAS initially drew its name from the Syracuse commercial linen supply company. But the strength and endurance of this veteran group evokes the name’s original meaning. Atlas, the strongman of Greek mythology, was condemned to hold the earth on his shoulders after the Olympians vanquished his Titans, providing the mythical explanation of why the sky doesn’t fall.
ATLAS-the nine-piece band that bears his name-might not be carrying the weight of the world on its shoulders, but in upstate New York pop music circles, this long-running unit has nonetheless attained the stature of Titans.”
